Original Blueberry is the flagship variety of the Blue Family. The name Blueberry was chosen because of the blue tones in the flowers and leaves, combined with an incredible aroma that is surprisingly close to the smell and taste of real blueberries.

The Blueberry was introduced to the Dutch market in 1998 together with Blue Velvet, Blue Moonshine, Flo and Blue Heaven - the other members of the Blue Family. All were originally bred by DJ Short and adopted by Dutch Passion in collaboration with the Canadian breeder.

Although the strain is primarily indica dominated, just the right amount of sativa genes gives the high a unique effect. Rather than being devastating, as one might expect from such a dominant indica strain, the high is clear and euphoric. It offers the user a long-lasting high that is known to be very pleasant and uplifting.

Blueberry strain info: A connoisseur's delight!

Blueberry is a highly resinous, indica strain (approx. 80% indica, 20% sativa), consisting primarily of an Afghani indica. The sativa genetics come from a Thai sativa and to a lesser extent from an Oaxacan (Mexican) sativa. This unique three-way cross is the genetic basis for the Blueberry strain and its many descendants.

Most plants have a compact growth pattern with strong stems and very large, broad fan leaves. The internodes can be very close together and the stems can turn purple. Blueberry can also produce some beautiful colors in the leaves and flowers.

Original Blueberry has achieved legendary status along with an immense number of followers. In recent years, Blueberry has been used for countless new and popular crosses, such as Blue Dream, Mazar x Blueberry (formerly Skywalker), Mazar x Blueberry OG (formerly Skywalker OG), Blueberry Headband, Blueberry Diesel and Blue Cookies to name a few.

Blueberry is ready to harvest after about 8-9 weeks indoors. Outdoors it can reach maximum heights of 2.5-3m and is harvested around the start/mid of autumn.

Blueberry is a very special indica, although it is about 80% indica dominated, the high is not too "stony" or "tiring". It won't knock you out, although it will definitely give you adequate medical care. It will give users a very pleasant feel-good body effect and put a big smile on their lips. With THC levels of 20%, this is definitely a strong strain.

Blueberry bloom time

We generally recommend a growing season of approx. 4-6 weeks. If you only have a few plants per m2, we recommend giving your plants about a six-week growing season. With more plants per m2 you can use a 4 week vegetation period. Despite being primarily indica dominant, Blueberry can still stretch during the flowering period. This is due to the presence of sativa genetics used in breeding Blueberry.

Outdoors, the Blueberry has the potential to reach significant size under optimal conditions. Ideally, the weather should be mild/average with lots of sun and some wind to reduce the possibility of the buds being damaged by mold and fungi. When grown under favorable conditions, it has the potential to deliver strong yields. Some growers have managed to achieve harvests of over 2kg per plant.

Blueberry can have large fan leaves that act as giant solar panels, converting light into energy. Strong stems and shorter intermodal spacing make her a great candidate for SOG-style growing styles.

The flowering time is approx. 8-9 weeks. Combined with the recommended vegetation phase, it takes approximately 12-15 weeks from seed to harvest.

The yield of the Blueberry

Blueberry produces above average harvests of the best quality cannabis; between 350 and 450 grams per m2 are possible. The compact plants bear dense and heavy flowers.

Blueberry is not the easiest strain for newer growers and can be a finicky feeder. But she will repay the more experienced growers with a nice harvest of perhaps one of the best cannabis strains available. We encourage growers to ensure their grow room environment is as good as possible. Blueberries thrive in a stable environment. The climate, nutrients, soil and lighting must be optimized so that it feels at home and can develop its full potential.

A cold climate will promote the production of purples and blues. If you're growing it indoors, try allowing some cold air to flow into the grow room at the end of the flowering period for a flamboyant look.
