Dutch Passion's main breeder, responsible for our best autoflowers such as Auto Mazar®, Auto Ultimate® and Auto Daiquiri Lime®, went the extra mile to create Auto Orange Bud®. First, a selected male Auto Daiquiri Lime® Autoflower was crossed with our Photoperiod Orange Bud®.

Then our main breeder waited until he had enough capacity to breed as many plants as possible so that he could continue crossing with the best and most productive specimens for 12 generations. This project took over 3 years and is our largest and most complex autoflower breeding program to date.

The main breeder consistently selected the individuals/specimens with the highest THC content and highest yields. In addition, the smell, taste and effect of the original Orange Bud® had to be retained. The result was an autoflower that is just as good in potency, quality and aroma/taste as our photoperiod Orange Bud®. Even our experienced test panel found no difference in a blind test.

Auto Orange Bud is a classic autoflower strain with a compact Christmas tree structure with thick buds and sticky flowers

Auto Orange Bud is a stable, sativa-dominant autoflower that stays fairly compact and grows with a nice central main cola surrounded by lots of large side buds. It is a plant with vigorous growth. In the first 4-5 weeks this plant grows mainly in width, from week 5-6 vertical growth begins and the sativa character of this autoflower is more clearly visible.

It mainly grows in width during the first month. Once visible flowering and stretching begins, she will typically become a wider, more compact autoflower plant than one would expect from a sativa-dominant strain. During this stretching phase, the internode spacing increases and you will see that the leaves become slightly thinner and slimmer.

Auto Orange Bud can be grown both indoors and outdoors. Most indoor growers use a 20/4 light schedule. Outdoors in more temperate climates, she produces best results when grown during the best 3 months of summer. In a Mediterranean (dry and warm) climate it is possible to achieve 2-3 successful harvests in one season. Indoors, the ripening period takes an average of 11-12 weeks, outdoors it can take 1-3 weeks longer under unfavorable conditions. Because of their compact buds, you should regulate the humidity at the end of the flowering phase.

Outdoors, Auto Orange Bud requires approximately 12-15 weeks to fully finish flowering. It should be taken into account that ripening occurs faster when the conditions are right. Lots of sunlight and a dry climate ensure faster ripening. This also ensures the most compact and white buds. So preferably place it in a sunny place and without "wet feet" (roots in permanently moist/wet soil - which it doesn't like).

The yield of Auto Orange Bud

Auto Orange Bud is a medium-sized plant and grows between 60-125 cm tall indoors. It is a bushy plant with many strong side branches and a large main bud. This classic Dutch Passion autoflower structure ensures a high yield. The plants can weigh between 50-150g, provided of course that they receive enough light and nutrients.

In an indoor cultivation it is possible to achieve around 400-500 g/m2. When using the SOG breeding technique, the highest yields are possible. Outdoors, the yield per plant will be about the same as indoors, especially when grown in the hottest summer months. Yields of around 100 g per plant are the rule rather than the exception.

Due to its wide, bushy plant structure, Auto Orange Bud is a perfect autoflower that grows naturally and without the use of different cultivation techniques. The only thing that can be done during/at the end of the stretching phase is removing the lowest branches and possibly removing excess leaves.

Some phenotypes receive fairly large fan leaves. These large, light-absorbing leaves, most likely hanging over a large number of budded branches, are best removed during the stretching phase. This allows the branches underneath to develop a little better. This ultimately benefits the yield.
