Desfrán is a powerful sativa with a unique aroma and taste. This terpene profile provides a fruity yet sweet taste like you've never tasted before. The aroma of Desfrán is reminiscent of pear and green apple. As soon as you enter the grow room, it is as if you have entered an orchard. Sweet, fruity and fresh notes of apple and pear fill the air.

The scent of some phenotypes tends more towards tropical fruits. Pineapple and melon are two other fruits often associated with Desfrán. Sweeter notes of caramel and honey make them very special and addictive! The taste of Desfrán is tropical, reminiscent of pear mixed with caramel with hints of grapefruit and melon with a sour, fresh and spicy taste on the exhale.

Desfrán is a true sativa. This long-flowering cannabis strain is based on a number of Sativa landraces from America and Asia. She is a legendary cannabis strain that consists of Cup-winning Destroyer genetics from South America. It guarantees strong, fast-growing plants with a considerable size. Her buds (with foxtail) are very resinous and sticky. The THC content is usually around 20%, but some phenotypes can be slightly higher.

Exactly what type of genetics are in Desfrán?

Desfrán is a legendary South American strain that has won numerous Cannabis Cups. Desfrán is the result of crossing Destroyer with Destroyer and was originally a three-way cross of Mexican Oaxaca, Colombian Punto Rojo and Meao Thai. Dutch Passion owes this strain to Alberto from Argentina, a master breeder and cannabis connoisseur and the owner of Haze magazine. With our first collaboration we wanted to introduce Desfrán to Europe.

Desfrán is a fast-growing sativa-dominant cannabis plant with long, slender leaves and a vigorous growth and flowering phase. Once the plants have germinated, they will fill your space in no time.

During her vegetative growth phase, Desfrán only needs a few nutrients. It grows particularly well in soil with plenty of space for the root system and also thrives well under other cultivation methods. Desfrán is a full-flowered sativa that grows very tall and develops long stems that can very quickly take up all the available space.

During vegetative growth, the plant can exude an intense fruity aroma when the stem is rubbed firmly. During the flowering phase, the plant stretches and can triple its height. Desfrán is a very resinous strain suitable for SOG and SCROG growing methods and typically takes 9-10 weeks to flower. However, there are also longer flowering phenotypes that take up to 12 weeks to fully mature. A second (or even third) internode flower is not uncommon.

If you are looking for the ideal plant for a SCROG grow, you should try our Desfrán. This lady forms new branches quickly and her thin leaf structure makes for a very pleasant SCROG experience. If you prefer a SOG, Desfrán is also a good choice. Her large and long flowering stretch means you can quickly set plants to 12/12.

This can also be desirable directly from seeds. We usually recommend a minimum growth period of 1 week on 18/6, but this also depends on the size of the pots and the number of plants per m2. In terms of structure, it resembles a real jungle sativa.

Desfrán produces unusually dense and compact buds. When dried, the buds resemble glazed pine cones. The buds can be very sticky and potent. Most flowers are completely covered with a thick layer of trichomes. Most phenotypes have foxtails, which also give the flowers the classic sativa appearance. With proper lighting and care, the buds become quite compact. They are certainly not fluffy.

During the flowering phase, this sativa expands quite a bit, tripling in size is the rule rather than the exception. This large expansion makes her the ideal sativa for a SCROG grow. This also allows for shorter pre-growth times. This also makes her a very suitable plant for very fast SOG cultivation. Its internode spacing is medium, it has slender leaves and fingers and a very favorable ratio of flowers to leaves.

The genetics used for Desfrán guarantee the following characteristics:

• A vigorous cannabis strain that grows quickly in both the vegetative and flowering phases.

• A sativa with a great stretch during the flowering phase, these ladies typically stretch 200-300% when the clock is set to 12/12

• The flowers are relatively compact for a sativa and it takes on average 10-11 weeks to be ready for harvest.

Desfrán is the perfect candidate if you are looking for a true sativa that stretches nicely during flowering and is well suited for both fast SOG and SCROG cultivation. Her structure makes her the ultimate lady for bending, bending and supercropping.

Impact of Desfrán

Desfrán is a THC-rich strain that averages around 20% THC. In the hands of an expert, higher cannabinoid levels cannot be ruled out. The record high of this strain is exceptional, it is a very clear high with a strong uplifting and energetic effect. An “up high” that gives you a lot of focus and alertness.

A pure sativa to love! An early harvest (still with clear trichomes) can result in cannabis that produces a very cerebral and psychedelic record high. When Desfrán is harvested late, the taste is sweeter and it is a real “destroyer”.

The combination of terpenes and record-high cannabinoid content make her a unique sativa strain. If you consume a little more, the effect can be a little "trippy and fast-paced," but that wears off over time. Either way, it's a very strong sativa effect!

The heyday of Desfrán

As Desfrán is an almost pure sativa strain, it also has a relatively long flowering time. On average it is between 9 and 12 weeks. The fastest phenotypes take around 9 weeks to be ready for harvest, the slowest around 12 weeks. Of course, ideal conditions lead to faster ripening, while problems lead to slower flowering. Due to their large size during the flowering phase, the plants grow quite tall.

Desfrán can still stretch for about 3-5 weeks after the clock is set to 12/12. 1.5-2 meter tall plants are not uncommon, especially when grown in large pots.

It is therefore recommended to grow this lady in a SCROG or top her early and, if necessary, control her stretch somewhat with the help of bending, snipping and supercropping. You can also grow them directly from seeds in a 12/12 growth cycle, preferably in a SOG, for a total harvest time of 2.5-3 months (cannabis seeds to harvest).

Due to its long flowering period, it is not suitable for outdoor cultivation in temperate climates. However, she is very suitable for growing outdoors in areas around the equator where it is nice and warm and sunny. Their record height combined with the plant and flower structure makes them ideal for warm areas with only 12-14 hours of daylight per day.

The yield of Desfrán

This is a fast flowering, pure sativa with a very high yield. Desfrán was not given an XXL label for nothing. This lady grows quickly and produces a lot of buds. If you grow her in a SCROG, you will see that she can fill the entire room in no time! Indoors, in a controlled growing environment, it will produce an average of 500-600g/m2.

In the hands of an expert, however, even higher yields are possible, reaching even 750 g/m2. Pure sativa strains like Desfrán are not always easy to grow and require some growing knowledge before you can achieve top results with them. New growers can certainly grow it successfully, but don't expect the highest yields if you've never worked with a classic sativa before.

It takes some experience and knowledge before you know exactly how to deal with it. Outdoors in a dry and sunny climate or in a controlled greenhouse, this strain can grow to epic proportions. Under ideal conditions, the plants can reach a height of 4-5 meters and about the same width.

Advice from our experts

This is a strain for advanced growers and lovers of pure sativa strains. Desfrán is a real “light eater.” This means that she can tolerate record-high light conditions and makes excellent use of them to grow even harder and faster.

When it comes to nutritional requirements, it can sometimes be quite a challenge to perfect them. A tip is to work with a lower dose of nutrients than you are normally used to and gradually increase it.

Throughout the cycle, this variety requires fewer nutrients than others. Another advantage of this variety is that it can withstand warm temperatures. Temperatures of 30-35 degrees Celsius are less of a problem.

Although this can lead to a slightly airier structure, Desfrán copes with it perfectly. For best results when growing indoors, we recommend keeping it slightly cooler and growing it at a maximum temperature between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius.

If you work with large pots and an average pre-growth period, you can achieve the same yield with just a few plants per m2 as with a room full of plants! Maintain a long stretch and manipulate lightly in the first 2 weeks of flowering if you want to control its height.
